Back to careers
Yin Tang makes dreams come true - in more ways than one. Our Marketing Manager - Supporter has the exciting job of developing Endeavour Foundation’s million-dollar Prize Homes and fundraisers, helping to change the lives of our lucky winners in an instant. But for this socially conscious leader, Yin’s greatest satisfaction comes from knowing she’s building a career founded on ensuring people with disability can live their best lives.
When it comes to suspense, sitting in on a phone call you know is about to change someone’s life is about as exhilarating as it gets. Yin Tang experiences this thrilling moment throughout the year as Endeavour Foundation’s Marketing Manager - Supporter.
“It’s always a wonderful phone call to listen to,” Yin says. “When our Lottery winners are told they’ve just won a Prize Home, they start crying - it can be really emotional. Others are in a state of disbelief. One winner we gave $500,000 to said it was lifesaving. She was homeless, sleeping on someone’s couch, so the win changed everything for her.”
These wins help change other people’s lives, too - and in even more profound ways. The incredible homes and prizes Yin and her team promote provide Endeavour Foundation with crucial funds. These funds allow us to help people with disability learn life skills, live independently, find a job they love, and be actively involved in their communities. All of which empowers people to live, work and flourish the way they choose.
“The work I do with Endeavour Foundation Lotteries allows me to be creative in a marketing environment, and I love that,” Yin says. “It’s a niche market and a really fun product - you’re learning all the time. But there’s more to it than that; it’s also about being part of a worthwhile cause. At the end of the day, you feel good about yourself, knowing you’re working towards something great.”
Yin has long been passionate about working for not-for-profit (NFP) organisations. Having worked as a Senior Marketing Coordinator for a different NFP, the move to Endeavour Foundation was natural for Yin, who was inspired by our mission to make possibilities a reality.
“When I first joined Endeavour Foundation, I knew it helped people with disability, but I didn’t realise it was one of Australia’s largest disability providers. Working here, you can see how amazing the organisation is. In my first week, I had an induction where I got to visit Kingaroy Kitchen (one of our Learning and Lifestyle centres). That was really cool - I got to see what I was working for.”
Since joining us as a Marketing Manager in 2016, Yin has expanded Endeavour Foundation Lotteries into the critical fundraiser it is today - with all profits going back into our supported employment, accommodation services, and learning and life skills programs. And it’s clear Yin has seized every opportunity to grow with us, too. In 2017, she was promoted to Marketing Team Leader, and in 2022, she stepped up to Marketing Manager - Supporter. Today, Yin develops and implements our Supporter marketing program, which includes both Lotteries and Fundraising programs.
“Endeavour Foundation has invested in me to become a leader. I’m usually someone who’s comfortable working behind the scenes, but Endeavour had confidence in me, and gave me training and opportunities to upskill. I may have some way to go to be the leader I want to be, but I’m on the way there.”
Working closely with our Lotteries team, Yin ensures our Prize Homes gain maximum traction with our valued supporters. Keeping her finger on the pulse of the property market and interior design trends, Yin and her team are also involved in content creation, direct marketing, and data analysis.
“It’s exciting and fun! When you work so many days in a year, it’s important you work for a great company. For me, it’s all about the people and the purpose. I also get to work alongside people living with disability, which I really enjoy. I didn’t think I’d get that opportunity.”
Yin sees her work with Endeavour Foundation as more than just a job. It gives her a sense of purpose, knowing she’s helping to create better futures for people with disability, as well as their families. It also provides her with a sense of belonging. Yin is a valued member of a team that celebrates individual strength and experience, so we can achieve more together.
“We’re highly collaborative. One thing we always say is that more minds are better than one. My team is like a family. We have fun but we’re honest and accountable, and we work hard. We’re all really passionate about the cause, and we take pride in hitting our targets.”
With our generous supporters and clients at the heart of everything she does, Yin plans to continue to grow our Lotteries and Fundraising products so we can change even more lives for the better.
“I’ve never looked back. That feeling of working for a great cause, with caring and passionate people - you can’t beat that. I love knowing I’m contributing to a bigger purpose.”
